Three, two, one…CRASH!
The NASA Langley Landing and Impact Research Testing Facility, where military and civilian aircraft are tested on crash safety and simulated landings. Crash and landing research can help save lives. The facility was built in 1965, but it wasn’t originally built for landing and impact research.
The original purpose of the facility? To train astronauts (of course). Including Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin for the lunar landing! Senior Airman Anthony Hetlage takes us to NASA Langley Research to see how the data is gathered.
