Mario Lopez looks down at his painting, “A Journey Begins,” during a medical appointment at the San Antonio Military Medical Center. The Maxillofacial Prosthetics department created a prosthetic right ear for Lopez to replace the ear he lost in an explosion in Afghanistan. He currently paints in his free time and gave this painting to the prosthetics team in gratitude.
