Interested in learning more about Challenge.gov, the central platform for all U.S. government challenges?
Our friends at DoDLive have scheduled a Bloggers Roundtable with Bev Godwin, director of the Center for New Media and Citizen Engagement at the U.S. General Services Administration, and Brandon Kessler, founder and CEO of ChallengePost, for Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 3:00 p.m. EDT.
They will be joined by Tami Griffith, science and technology manager at the U.S. Army Research Laboratory’s Simulation & Training Technology Center. Griffith is heading up the Army’s Federal Virtual Worlds Challenge, which asks the public to submit ideas for innovative and interactive training and analysis solutions in virtual worlds.
Listen live as the group discusses how Challenge.gov will allow federal agencies to post challenges and allow the public to find them in one convenient place.
The Department of Defense (DoD) has four ongoing challenges appearing on Challenge.gov:
- The Chief of Naval Research Challenge is offering up to $100,000 in cash prizes for innovative ideas related to Office of Naval Research goals.
- The U.S. Army’s Federal Virtual Worlds Challenge wants to hear ideas about how best to use virtual reality in any Army purview – this year, they’re looking for ideas focusing on or around artificial intelligence. The winners will receive a portion of the $25,000 cash prize pool and a paid trip to present their entries at the GameTech Conference in Orlando, Fla.
- The Defense Technical Information Center is soliciting student-written scientific or technical papers to help stimulate DTIC research initiatives in web and mobile computing applications. The authors of the best papers will be invited to present their plans at the 2011 DTIC Conference in Alexandria, Va.
- The DoD Cyber Crime Center’s Digital Forensics Challenge is looking for people to help digital forensic examiners solve real-world challenges and develop new investigative tools, techniques, and methodologies.
